George House Trust's 'Living HIV Confident' course aims to help you better understand more about living with, and managing, HIV and provides a space for you to explore with other people some of the issues a positive diagnosis raises.  The first people to access this brand new ‘Living HIV Confident’ course at George House Trust have given it some amazing feedback:

“I would highly recommend this course to anybody recently diagnosed.  My confidence surrounding HIV has increased massively.  Also my understanding of the virus from terminology to healthy living is a lot clearer.”

“I feel more confident than I felt before and I now understand more about HIV.  The most memorable part for me was when the facilitator told me that I should start believing in myself more and not let HIV take over my life because that is how I have been living since my diagnosis.  I would recommend this course to anyone who feels like they don’t have confidence in themselves, especially newly diagnosed people.”

We’re pleased to announce that our second Living HIV Confident course will be starting on 6th October.  If you’re interested in attending, you can sign up for it here.

Places Available!

George House Trust's ‘Food for Life' course aims to encourage people living with HIV to eat healthily on a budget.  Over five sessions, each week, service users get to cook a different meal as they learn about nutrition and flavour.  All of the ingredients are provided with each session and there is the added bonus of eating together and taking the leftovers home with you once you’ve finished!

The next Food for Life course begins on 4th of August, with just a few places left.  If it’s anywhere near as successful as the last course, then the participants are in for a treat.  Here’s what some of the previous attendees had to say about their Food for Life experience:
“The course has been absolutely amazing, it has been an eye opener.  I have been given knowledge in budgeting at the same time as eating healthy foods.  I have also gained cooking skills and the environment, the equipment and utensils were fantastic.  Let me take the opportunity to thank George House Trust for coming up with this great idea.  It has changed my eating habits.  I am cooking and eating healthy food with my family.”

"I found the course extremely informative and helpful and unexpectedly good fun. Enjoyed the recipes and meeting new people."

If you’re interested in attending the next Food for Life course, you can sign up for it via our web events section here.
